The permanent teeth are not all in place, is it necessary to consult? Yes !
Knowing when to start orthodontic treatment for your child can sometimes be difficult. Indeed, according to a source from UFSBD, it is estimated that 60% of children between 9 and 12 years old would need to have orthodontic correction.
Our invisible and lingual orthodontic treatments are therefore perfectly adapted to each age of your child. Indeed, each child according to his age develops very different problems. This is why we take great care in making the dental appliances that we provide to your child.
In rare cases where the lower jaw is too advanced, for example, it is possible to start treatments from the age of 4-5 years. In orthodontic treatment, this is called the “intercept” phase. That is, we are going to treat your child’s very young teeth to rebalance the base of their teeth. This will go a long way in helping him stay on treatment when he is a teenager. At this point, it is important to contact us for a first consultation without waiting for his baby teeth to fall out.
What are the stages of orthodontic treatment for a child?
In the majority of cases of orthodontics with children, there are two major stages. The first (which we previously named “interceptive”), aims to correct the shifts in its jaw so that the growth of its teeth takes place in the best conditions. Then the second stage is in adolescence. Dr. Abtan will follow your child until this period, during which she will finalize the work of aligning her teeth. At this point when all of your child’s teeth will be permanent, she will carefully refine the smile from her final teeth. Note that this second stage can be shortened and made easier if treatment has been started and well followed from childhood.
If your children are older, we invite you to consult the information in our orthodontics section for adolescents. For any additional information, contact our team on 01 47 27 42 66, or make an appointment.
